Eotenweard - The Old North

Eotenweard is intended to be a gritty, low fantasy, ‘historical’, game set between 550 & 600AD. This is about 150 years after the Roman legions withdrew and, while it will be another 200 years before the 'Age of Vikings', both the BBC's ‘Last Kingdom’ and Prime's ‘Vikings’, provide reasonable touchstones for the look and feel of the setting.

The supernatural world is very real to people, whether they see it through the Christian lens of most of the indigenous Celtic peoples (who we call British, in the game) or through the pagan 'norse' gods of the relatively new rulers of much of North and East Britain (who we call Saxons). Meanwhile, some Britons cling to the Old Gods of the pre-Roman Celtic religion.

THE PLAYBOOKS available are: Reluctant Hero; Hammer of Woden; Loon; Hunter; Reformed; Celtic Mystic; Priest of God; Storyteller; and Sword of God. There is also scope for one player to choose an Unearthly playbook from among: Demon; Fae; Revenant; Skinchanger; and Spirit.

We will spend about 30 mins on character and setting creation before playing to find out, investigating the local setting and (hopefully) humbling the Darkness threatening the locals

No experience necessary - rules will be taught

CONTENT WARNING & SAFETY TOOLS: Adult and horror themes may be encountered if the players lean that way but we'll be using a set of layered safety tools, the use of which I'll explain, to ensure everyone has a good time. I'll come with some starting Lines & Veils, which players will be able to add to, while the X-Card and an Open Door will also be in play.
