Officina Meningi is a creative lab focused on original and sustainable ideas, specializing in Role-Playing Games and Gamebooks.
Our work has been recognized for its quality on both national and international levels.
In 2020, we were awarded the prestigious Librogame Award from Lucca Comics & Games and Librogame’s Land (the most important recognition in the field) for The Necronomicon Gamebook, which has also been the best-selling Italian gamebook series on Kickstarter for over five years.
In 2021, the international platform No Dice Unrolled awarded Edgar Allan Poe – The Horror Gamebook the title of Best Gamebook of the Year, as chosen by readers.
That same year, our best-seller Last Sabbath – The Witches’ RPG received a Special Mention and the award for Best Adaptation at the NDU Awards, again thanks to popular vote. The title has been translated and released worldwide — Japan included!
In 2024, Odyssey – Black Tales won the NDU Award for Best Adaptation, while Totem – The Spirits’ RPG took home four NDU Awards: Game of the Year, Best Mechanics, Art, and Setting. Both these title will be released for the first time in the UK this year, thanks to GMC distribution!

Last Sabbath - The Witches' RPG

Last Sabbath is a masterless rule-light cooperative (or solo) tabletop journaling RPG that takes you and your Coven in a magical journey from the initiation to the confrontation with an awful threat, through the discovery and control of your consuming powers.
The Mother’s Call has many forms: a whisper in the wind, a light from the bottom of the sea, symbols that are magically engraved upon the skin ... if you choose to answer, the place where you will receive the Power will be revealed to you.
You will be able to face the journey alone or in the company of a Coven of sisters and brothers who have chosen, like you, to share the path of magic, but there will be a price to pay every time you use it: to consume the Memories or your own Life. And there is no going back.
From the rite of Initiation to the confrontation with a terrible Threat, to proceed in History you will have to interpret the Signs of what is about to happen using the tool of your choice: tarot cards, runes, dice or coffee grounds. You have no limits, the choice is free, as is the duration and the very nature of the tale, good or evil, redeeming or catastrophic... in the Grimoire you will nevertheless find many ideas that you can use to proceed towards your Destiny.
The really important thing is to keep track of progress and events in the Journal; you can write, draw or compose collages to tell what happens and to share it with those who accompany you. Just remember that every participant in the Last Sabbath shares the same ability to change the course of events. The only limit is the imagination... or the Fear.
ORIGINAL GAMEPLAY
It is a cooperative (or solo) RPG in which players are called to write the History of their coven in a shared Diary, from the initiatory sabbath to the confrontation with the Threat. As a journaling game, you will track your Memories, create Spells, and write imaginary description from the perspective of your characters newly embarking on their quest for Power which shape how the protagonists overcomes challenges and meets their denouement after seven scenes. The rules are very simple and the events follow one another in turn, improvising together, in a collaborative story. The handbook will inspire you through questions, tests and prompts for adventures, but to move forward in the various scenes, on several occasions you will be asked to interpret the signs extracted from a divination tool such as the Tarot.

Power comes at a cost: will you spend your Life or Memories for powerful spells, or nurture the connections with your Coven?
And Remember... Each voice is decisive for the narrative and a hasty decision can lead you to ruin!
Totem - The Spirits' RPG

In Totem - The Spirits' RPG the Game Master (GM) will take on the role of the Spirit and introduce otherwordly elements into a collaborative narrative where the players (referred to as the Seekers) must sketch the Map of the haunted location in an attempt to understand how to exorcise the Spirit.
During the investigation, the Spirit will reveal to the players three elements related to the reason for its presence in our world (the Bindings) and will present chilling challenges that must be resolved by flipping the Coin of Destiny.
With each Failure, the Seekers’ psychological or physical conditions worsen to the point where the Spirit might gain control of the them!
And… yes, you can also play with a Spirit Board!

A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RPG
- MAP-MAKING
After choosing a Scenario from the available options and the Archetype of Spirit (Wolf, Moth, Cat, or Crow, each with specific powers), the Seekers, in turn, will decribe what they see and their actions, then sketch the Map of the haunted place.
- RULES-LIGHT
The game fits into the vein of narrative-driven RPGs, offering essential and immersive mechanics to foster interpretation rather than rules-oriented play.
It is ideal for 2-3 hour one-shots, from 2 to 6 players (Master included), perfect even for those completely new to RPGs.
- INVESTIGATIVE
The GM, playing the eerie role of the Spirit, develops the narrative building on the descriptions provided by the players and introduce otherworldly presences into the location.
