Stand Inspections
Stand Inspections
Some stands may need an inspection by a structural engineer to make sure they are safe for the public.
Stands that use only a shell scheme do not require an inspection.
Stands that are just tabletop with pull up banners do not require an inspection.
If you have a complex stand, or a constructed stand it will be subject to an inspection. It is the responsibility of the stand designer to determine whether a structure is complex or not.
Examples of complex structures:
- Any structure, regardless of its height, which requires structural calculations
- Multi-storey stands
- Custom-built/bespoke suspended structures
- Sound/lighting towers
- Temporary tiered
- Platforms and stages of 0.6m in height and over and all platforms and stages for public use (not including stand floor flats and platforms)
Constructed Stands
These are stands build from separate elements usually put together using power tools. (This does not include self assembly tents and gazebos.)
The organiser and the show contractor reserve the right to deem a structure ‘complex’ or 'constructed' where this has not correctly been determined by the designer.
