Bitter as Salt, Cold as the Sea

Cold, unfamiliar stars hang over the snow laden coast, and the wind off the sea never seems to rest. Sent to aid an old ally, you arrive at a rude hall standing at the head of a fjord, its glory faded but its pride intact. Within, red-gold flickers in the firelight as tales tell of ancient swordplay. An iron-bound chest serves as a ruler’s seat, a wolfhound watches every word, and the air is thick with the sense that something long expected is finally close at hand.
