UKGE at the Fringe Festival

26 August, 2026

Richard made his annual pilgrimage to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival.

His first few days included The News Revue, Baby Wants Candy, an improvised musical, The Hunger, 5 Mistakes That Changed History and John Logie Baird's Life in a Musical.

As a team that puts on a huge range of live entertainment at UK Games Expo, it's always great to see what other festivals and performers are creating and to experience different approaches to live shows.

The Edinburgh Fringe is packed with creativity, comedy, theatre and performance, and Richard has plenty more to discover during his visit.

Who knows what inspiration might make its way back to UKGE?

Richard's Top Fringe Festival Tips.

  1. Pre book a few shows maybe for your first night.
  2. But keep lots of gaps to fit in something you hear a good word about
  3. Do not be afraid to try something out of left field. That is much of the fun.
  4. Plan in meals and think about prebooking  evening meals. There are plenty of street food offerings though these can be pricey. Make sure to have time to grab a cup if tea along the way and keep hydrated.
  5. Hotels can be expensive  so book early or look out of the city a bit
  6. Study the map a bit and try to avoid hurtling from one side of the city to the other then back again. So take the location into account
  7. Allow time for getting about. Even walking is slow with crowds.
  8. Have the uber app and use it sometimes to save your legs but be aware taxis cost 30 or 40% more than usual.
  9. Be flexible in groups. Don't assume you will do everything together. Split up join up again later, try different things with different parties.
  10. Ask folk what they have seen they have enjoyed.
