Following a Strange Melody
Description
For years you’ve talked about exploring the ruins in the great forest, of the fame that comes with finding a new ruin, of the treasure you might pull from the lair of the beast that guards it. You try to forget that explorers’ licences cost gold and that you’ve only copper in your pockets; but then a young woman who seems not to have aged in 10 years comes looking for help finding the lost City Without Doors; can you refuse Fate, now it’s actually giving you the opportunity?
In Symbaroum only the players roll dice. You roll to sneak past the elves that want you out of the forest, and you roll to defend yourself if those elves attack you because you’ve not heeded their warnings. The GM never rolls, so play comes back to you faster.
Symbaroum’s games and its background are inspired by fairy tales, where the challenges and monsters are overcome by information you get from in-game myths, archaeology and children’s rhymes. Paying attention to the folk tales told by the old storyteller by the fire can really save your life.
