Gwent: The Legendary Card Game

Welcome to the first-ever Gwent: The Legendary Card Game Official tournament. We here at Hachette Board Games UK are delighted to bring this renowned game to UKGE 2025. UKGE attendees can demo the game at the Hachette Board Games UK stand (2-416) or compete in this very first official physical tournament, ahead of the game’s September release. Depending on how well they do in their pods, players will get their hands on the game, accessories, and promos more than 3 months early!

We will be running pods of 8 players on Sunday, the 1st of June. Please note, you will need to know the rules before the tournament, so please drop by the stand (2-416) on Friday or Saturday to get a demo OR read the rules.

There will be three flights of pods throughout the day. Each pod will have three 30-minute rounds, after which a Pod Winner will be declared! Pod winners will face each other in a different game mode, the Brawl. Each player will be given a random deck (we shall let the dice decide!) and brawl until there is one Winner. The winner of the first-ever Gwent: The Legendary Card Game Official tournament will be decided in a 1v1 Final between the winners of each Brawl.

Format: Initiation Mode. Players will be provided sleeved pre-constructed decks (random factions) upon registration. Please note, players will not be able to keep their decks after the tournament.

Tournament Structure:

Pods of 8 players, 3 rounds of swiss

Pod winners will play a Brawl format game

Brawl winners will play a 2-player Final 1v1

Timings:

Pods 1 & 2 (8 players each): 09:45 - 11:15 (3 rounds)

Pods 3&4 (8 players each): 11:30 - 13:00 (3 rounds)

Pods 5&6 (8 players each): 13:15 - 14:45 (3 rounds)

Brawl 1 & 2 (pod winners): 15:00-16:00 

Final 1v1: 16:15-16:45

Note: Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time of your Pod to ensure registration goes smoothly. 

You will need also a valid UKGE entry ticket to attend this event. 

Prize structure (the prizes stack):

Pod participation: coins and gems (game component upgrades)

Pod winners: ability to buy the game at the show at the Hachette stand 2-416 (3 months before release)

Runner Up: a promotional 2-player playmat 

Brawl Winner: A free copy of Gwent: The Legendary Card Game, as well as a thematic £150 MSRP item that will be shipped after the show by Hachette Board Games UK
