UKGE donations to Charity

£6000+ raised for our 3 charities

We are happy to reveal the charity donations associated with UKGE 2016.

Each year UKGE asks the three large cosplay groups that attend to choose a charity each to become the official charities that UKGE will support.

The three Cosplay Groups who decide our Chartity support are:

Galactic Knights - they have chosen Admiral Nurses who support dementia patients.

Who's Company have chosen the Dreams come true charity which try and make special needs or terminally ill children with a special wish.

The Thanet Cosplayers have chosen Children with Cancer Fund .

Our sources of charity donations comes from these routes:

The profit from the Bring and Buy (we charge a commission on items sold on the bring and buy). The Bring and buy raised 5165.00 profit (after covering its own expenses).

Playtest Zone:

This year, we asked for a donation to the Dreams Come True charity from our games designers, in order to pre-book their playtesting tables and they came up trumps:

Playtest UK raised £438.86 + £63.75 Gift Aid via JustGiving: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Playtest-UK-Expo-2016

Maths trade:

UKGE Maths Trade raised £201.00 + £41.25 Gift Aid via JustGiving: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/UKGE2016-MT  for the Children with Cancer Fund.

Chris Petersen Private Game

We auctioned online 4 seats in a Private game of Game of Thrones with FFG boss Christian Petersen and that raise £135 for charity.

 'The Orctioneer'

In addition there were several charity lots auctioned by 'The Orctioneer'  (a feature we intend growing next year) including a copy of Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu that had only just been won that weekend in our raffle!.  In all those lots raised £180.

Taken as a whole this means that activities at UK Games Expo ammounted to £6224.86  of charitable donations. We will be contacting the charities to arrange transfer of funds UKGE collected.

Hopefully 2017 will see this rise even higher.  Many thanks to everyone who contributed to these
