Boardgame Tournaments for 2012
The Grand Board Game tournament will now include a new trophy, in memory of Doug Massie, a keen board gamer, tragically died last year and the trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Grand Board Game Tournament on an annual basis. Doug played in the Grand Board Game Tournament at Expo a number of times, and won it in 2008. Further details will be in the next issue of QLA. The Tournament will again be organised by David Norman and details of games are shown below.

Saturday: Agricola, Settlers of Catan
Sunday am: Carcassonne, 7 Wonders

Grand Boardgame Prizes
The winner of the Agricola, 7 Wonders, Puerto Rico and St Petersburg tournament will recieve £25 vouchers to buy even more games!
The overall winner of the UK Games Expo Doug Massie Trophy will recieve a £100 worth of games.
Settlers of Catan World Championship
Expo 2012 will be a very special time for Settlers of Catan players; the winner of the Settlers tournament at Expo will represent the UK at the World Settlers of Catan Championship, being held in Pennsylvania in the USA. The dates are 14-16 September 2012, which is Friday to Sunday. The location will be Normandy Farms, Blue Bells, Pennsylvania. The winner will be flown into Philadelphia Airport, Mayfair Games will collect contestants and take them to their hotel, which will also be paid for by Mayfair. Note that although the tournament is on Saturday in order to be eligible for the prize of representing the UK in the USA the winner MUST be able to attend a prize ceremony at 3pm on Sunday 27th May at Expo.

Carcassonne
As in previous years the winner of the Carcassonne tournament will be given entry to the 7th World Carcassonne Championship to be held in October 2012. £100 worth of travel costs will be paid by UK Games Expo.
